Jay is a pioneer in Internet infrastructure and has been directly involved in the development of the first two waves of the Internet evolution. With Equinix (Nasdaq: EQIX, S&P 500), he founded the largest datacenter company on earth, where the networks that comprise more than 90% of the world’s Internet traffic come to exchange data traffic. At SimpleGeo, he led a team that developed some of the first tools for developers to integrate location based services into enterprise and consumer software and mobile apps. As we are now in the onset of the Internet's third wave of expansion that promises to connect billions of new devices, sensors and appliances, Jay is uniquely positioned to provide the learning from the two previous generations of interconnectivity to advance this next phase.
In addition to his deep understanding of the interconnectivity infrastructure and ecosystem, Jay also has a strong consumer background. He built and led Digg as CEO to its peak of popularity when it was featured on the cover of Business Week magazine as the vanguard of social and participatory media. He also founded and led Revision3, the groundbreaking Internet TV property that was acquired by the Discovery Channel. He has also been featured on the cover of Time Magazine as one of the Time 100 Most Influential People in the World.
